Our Service

Introduction to our service

We provide tailored packages of support and rehabilitation for Younger Adults with enduring mental illness whose needs are complex.

We aim to empower clients, some of whom have suffered a lifetime of social stigma and social exclusion, low self esteem and low expectations, through individualised support and rehabilitation. We aim to help our clients to re-learn and to preserve the necessary skills to maintain and improve their quality of life and independence.

Each small group home is primarily designed for a community of three, four or five clients. Some homes have an attached flat enabling clients to experience graded exposure to more independent living in preparation for moving on.

Ultimately, we expect that our success in providing a high quality service will be judged by our ability to enable, where appropriate, timely progression to accommodation with less support, or for those that remain in a home for the longer term, by clear evidence that the individual has improved their quality of life over time.

Through a client-centred outcome measure and user surveys, we will continually monitor the client's perspective of how successful we are.

All of our homes are registered with the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales and have experienced trained staff to support clients and to help them work toward their goals.

Our approach

We have a commitment to being person-centred.

Our commitment to our partnerships with clients (and their friends, family and advocates), referrers, commissioners and NHS multi-disciplinary teams is at the heart of our approach.

We believe we can all learn from one another as we work together and that this will enable us to provide the best possible service for our clients.

Our clients’ home life takes place within an overarching framework of risk assessment, risk management and effective reporting procedures under the direction of the relevant community mental health team.

The following working practices are key to our approach:

 A person-centred approach

Maintaining and developing self-esteem seeking to apply the principles of Social Role Valorisation

A belief in the therapeutic value of activity

A commitment to equal opportunities in all we do

 Flexibility

An ability to respond to changing needs rapidly

A commitment to continually improving the quality of our service through staff training and development

Strong risk management and reporting procedures

Proactive partnership working to provide tailored support to multi-disciplinary teams working with our clients

Facilitating graded exposure to independence within the parameters of agreed care plans.

Clients’ home life

Communal living and associated responsibilities form an important part of life in each house. Clients who are looking forward to the benefits and to taking on the challenges of living as a community will benefit most from their time with us.

We want our clients to feel at home and to be as independent as they can safely manage. Therefore, while we encourage clients to take responsibility for themselves and each other in completing everyday activities of daily living, our staff are always on hand to provide support in developing skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, budgeting, household chores, and personal care.

While clients should exercise their own choice about whether to participate in activities or spend time in other people's company, Integra's ethos is to encourage meaningful activity and social interaction.

No one is ever expected to do any task they are not motivated, comfortable, confident, able and safe to do.

Like many households, there will be times when clients eat together communally and other times when food is prepared and eaten separately. Notwithstanding this, Integra encourages clients to prepare and eat together at least one communal meal per day, which will normally be in the evening.

Communal meetings

Clients are encouraged to express their needs and to respect the needs of others.

To this end, there are weekly communal meetings in order to encourage the development and maintenance of effective social skills and conflict resolution. The communal meetings address communal planning such as meals, shopping, and use of the communal facilities, joint activities, booking of transport, and so on. Weekly communal meetings also discuss service developments and provide an opportunity for clients to give feedback on the service they are receiving.

Community activities

Regularly organised activities, games and entertainment will be encouraged in each of the small group homes.

The layout of each house is sympathetic towards allowing activities to occur without inconveniencing those clients who have chosen not to participate.

Group activities and trips are identified and planned by clients. The engagement of clients in meaningful activity is central to Integra's ethos.

Whether an activity represents working toward a personal goal, simply leisure, a chore or a potential new interest, the activity must have meaning for the client in order for them to be motivated to engage. To this end, group trips are planned and chosen by users who share similar interests.

Fees

Fees will be assessed on an individual basis and are dependant upon the individual needs of clients.

Many of our clients are likely to receive funding as a result of Continuing NHS health care due to the complexity of their needs and the extent or regularity of NHS involvement in their ongoing care.

Prior to a client's admission, all funding issues must be resolved in an agreed signed client contract.

Integra does not charge to undertake initial assessments within South Wales.
